We’re now in December and the countdown to that one glorious, present-filled day has begun.
Naturally, all that joy and festivities usually means that families get together to decorate their homes and property so that they can fully get into the spirit of the season. While this is definitely a fun process for everyone, it can be a very special experience for those who have just purchased some new land or just finished building a new home on their property.
The good folks here at Santa Cruz Properties are here to give those that have acquired a new lot some ideas on how you can turn your property into a Texan winter wonderland – even Santa Clause himself will be impressed.
Ideas for Decorating Your Property Just in Time for Christmas
One of the best things about purchasing land through Santa Cruz Properties is the fact that once you built your own home, you have the complete freedom to decorate your house whichever way you feel without asking permission from a landlord or a homeowners association.
With this being said, here are some splendid ideas to give your property some charming and cheerful holiday glee:
1. Texas-Themed Outdoor Christmas Trees
Perhaps the heart and soul of Christmas decorations, there’s nothing more awe-inspiring than the Christmas tree. So why not make more than one? If your property has multiple trees, then brighten up your land by decorating them with string mini-lights and other holiday ornaments such as snowflakes and stars.
However, the way it looks is completely up to you and your family; let your personality shine through. If you are feeling that Texas pride, what better way to give your property a Lone Star treatment than by getting some red, white and blue lights to match our state’s flag colors.
You can even add a cowboy Santa and other figures throughout your property.
2. Lighted Animals
Most big-box stores sell various types of lighted animals – especially reindeer – that you can place all throughout your lot as you see fit. Place them next to trees or near bushes to create a winter wonderland.
You can even buy a whole set of Santa’s reindeer and include a sled to give your land an even more magical vibe. Thankfully, there’s plenty of topiary animals at various heights and positions (including standing, grazing or lying down) to decorate your property with.
3. Merry Messages
If you want to add a little something to your lot without going overboard, you can always use mini-lights to spell out “Merry Christmas” on your fence. Make the words as small or as big as you like, and use as many colors as you choose to spread that holiday cheer to all those passing by your property.
4. Don’t Forget the Bushes
While Christmas trees get plenty of love during the holiday season, that doesn’t mean you should forget about all the bushes along your property. Consider purchasing net lights and draping them across your bushes and shrubs to really make them shine.
You can make your winter wonderland come together by using all of your property wisely.
5. Front Door/Porch
The first impression is always the most important, so if you want to show off the gorgeous home you’ve built on your property, then make sure to give extra attention to your front porch and door.
Sure, Christmas wreaths and a nice set of garland wreaths are always classic essentials, but if you really want to add a nice rustic touch, add a simple bouquet of pine branches for a very nice touch to greet your visitors. Additionally, investing in some seasonal plants (natural or artificial) can add a certain kind of charm worth keeping all year long.
Finally, the right amount of green and red Christmas lights can really stand out once the sun sets down into a chilly night (and to also let Santa know where to go once he’s ready to swing by).
